Discussion:
A Plea For Not Using Frames

Hi,

Using 3.4.10.1 on Firefox

This is solely my personal opinion:

I would like to add my name to the list of people who like phpMyAdmin
but hate the use of frames and increased use of JavaScript. It's really
screwing up the interface. I know the trend these days is for trickier,
busier interfaces, with Ajax and all the rest.

Please keep it simple and give up the frames - I'm pulling hair out with
these frames. This is a tool! Eye candy only hinders it.

Thank you.

Hi,
you are using an outdated product. Version 4.0.0, released on
2013-05-03, got rid of the frames.

but it makes *much* more use of Ajax and is in many cases
*terrible* slow compared with older versions which
requested the used data and sent a page to the browser
instead more or less raw data and let the browser build
the page

I am not experiencing that phenomenon at all. What type of machine, OS
and video card are you employing?

a highend machine with 16 GB RAM................

maybe you are using the defaults only show pieces
of data and permanently paging - sorry that is not
my workflow and before the shiny Ajax it was no single
problem to say "show all" in case auf some thousands
of records
